It’s here! Stonebird is out, in bookshops around the country and online. It still doesn’t feel real, and I don’t think it will for a while. Every day it seems people are tweeting or blogging lovely things about it, and it’s amazing to discover that they’re enjoying it.
Here are just some of the things people have been saying about my little book:
Booktrust has listed Stonebird among its ‘Books we like: February 2015’. It’s up there with some really great books. Shane Hegarty’s Darkmouth is terrific, Ruth Fitzgerald’s Emily Sparkes and the Friendship Fiasco is a wonderful read, and there are all sorts of others that I’ve heard very good things about. Talk about keeping good company!
And speaking of good company, Stonebird is also listed among some bobby dazzlers in the Book Bloggers Recommended: 2015 Releases. I’m so chuffed to be included with authors like Abi Elphinstone, Piers Torday, Tamara Ellis Smith and Frank Cottrell Boyce.
It’s been called a ‘beautiful, delicate story’ by The Bookbag, and a ‘beautifully heart-warming yet heartbreaking and poignant novel’ in Laura’s Little Book Blog.
I was away over the weekend for the Super Bowl (what was Pete Carroll thinking?!) but when I got back, I had a box waiting for me. Inside the box I discovered my author copies in all their beautiful, glossy, physical-actual-book glory.
HOLY MOLY, is Stonebird a beautiful book! I’m not saying that because it’s mine . . . I’m saying it because Quercus have done such an amazing job with it and Frances Castle has created a fantastic cover and it’s all come together to be absolutely, positively, unquestionably the most beautiful book I’ve ever seen.
The photos don’t do the book justice, but here they are for your eyes to devour. It even has an embossed silver spine:
And finally, to celebrate the release, I’m giving away a signed hardcover copy of Stonebird! All you have to do is follow me on Twitter and retweet the tweet below:
